This book has a very unconventional way of introducing to calculus. While other books focus on the newtonian principle of limit values this book takes another approach by describing what change means in mathematical terms and how changes in different variables are connected.
The first half of the book introduces the differentials of algebraic, geometric and exponential functions in all detail while the second half is dedicated to teaching integral calculation.
Also there is alot of exercises that repeat perfectly the stuff tought in the particular chapters.
Also for more advanced students of calculus this book is an asset because it treats the topic in a unique way so that some might enhance their knowledge about the meaning and application of calculus.
The only negative aspect is that some of the given solutions to the exercises are not correct. But this only affects a handful of the exercises and either way there are online tools for checking the own calculated solutions (e.g. Wolfram Alpha).
All in all, this book is a gem for everyone interested in calculus, whether you are a scientific student or for the everyday use without having a great mathematical background. The book shows the magic of calculus and makes a great job in wetting ones appetite for differential equations and the way to create and handle them.

I’ve been studying from this book for a few months and have found the content of chapters and explanations to be really high quality(It is written in rather a different style to modern textbooks and does take a bit of getting used to) . The only downside I’ve found is there are a good number of errors in the answers at the back of the book. This has caused much frustration and lots of time wasted. Also if you’re a not familiar to imperial measure some of the problems will do your head in and you will appreciate metric so much more after reading this book.

I have a Bachelor’s with a minor in math, but that was decades ago. Now, approaching my 60’s, I was looking for a re-introduction to calculus (just because I’m a nerd). I’m not the brightest bulb in the pack so I need things explained to me simply, and then built upon. This book does a masterful job of that. Usually in books on math or science subjects I end up reading the same sentence (or paragraph) multiple times. As I said, not the brightest bulb. But with this book every single sentence and explanation was intuitive and easily understandable. After attempting several books on calculus, this is the only one I actually completed. If this can teach calculus to me, it can teach calculus to anyone.

Content of the book is fantastic for learning calculus! Set around first year university level, and explained with the use of practical applications, as you surely assumed.
Only downside is that there are errors in the calculations, both in worked examples and in the answers for the exercises at the end of each chapter. Had to check several answers with wolfram alpha in the first few chapters alone.
The paper is good quality though, so it’s not too much trouble penciling in corrections.
Would still highly recommend to anybody.
